Tech Manage Conducts 139 One-on-One Partnering Meetings at BIO International Convention 2026

Tech Manage participated in BIO International Convention 2026, held in San Diego, California, from June 22 to 25, 2026, with a three-member team.

During the convention, we conducted 72 meetings to promote technologies originating from Japanese universities and other research institutions to overseas partners, as well as 67 meetings to scout technologies overseas based on the needs of Japanese companies. In total, Tech Manage held 139 one-on-one partnering meetings.

BIO International Convention is one of the world’s largest biotechnology industry events, bringing together biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, startups, universities and research institutions, investors, and other stakeholders from around the world.

Tech Manage used this opportunity to pursue both sides of its international activities: connecting Japanese technologies with overseas partners and identifying promising technologies abroad for Japanese companies.

Bringing Japanese University Technologies to the Global Market — 72 Meetings

We held 72 one-on-one meetings with overseas companies and other organizations to introduce life science technologies originating from Japanese universities and research institutions.

The technologies covered a wide range of research areas, including antibodies, nucleic acid therapeutics, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), infectious diseases, oncology, regenerative medicine, and cell-based technologies.

During these meetings, we introduced the features and research results of each technology directly to potential overseas partners and received feedback on their level of interest and evaluation. Several projects have already progressed to further discussions, including requests for additional data and follow-up meetings involving the researchers themselves.

One of the key objectives of our participation was not simply to attend an international event, but to create opportunities for university research to lead to meaningful dialogue with companies.

Scouting Technologies Worldwide — Meetings with 67 Universities, Research Institutions, and Other Organizations

At the same time, we conducted technology scouting activities overseas to support Japanese companies in their technology search and open innovation efforts.

We met with 67 organizations from around the world:

  • United States & Canada: 34
  • Europe: 11
  • Australia & New Zealand: 13
  • South Korea, Taiwan & Hong Kong: 5
  • Israel: 4

Based on the disease areas and technology themes of interest to our Japanese clients, we gathered information on new research findings and technologies from universities and research institutions in each region.

Over the four-day convention, our team conducted as many as 21 meetings in a single day, making for an exceptionally intensive program of partnering activities.

Beyond the Meetings

Our activities do not end when the meetings at the convention are over.

Of the 67 organizations we met through our technology scouting activities, 34 have already provided, or indicated that they will provide, additional information. We will continue to review this information with our Japanese clients and explore opportunities for further evaluation and collaboration.

We are also continuing discussions and information exchange with overseas companies that expressed interest in technologies originating from Japanese universities.

At BIO International Convention 2026, Tech Manage was able to pursue both directions of international technology transfer: bringing Japanese technologies to the world and bringing promising technologies from around the world to Japan.

We will continue to leverage our network of universities, research institutions, and companies in Japan and overseas to support industry-academia collaboration through both technology transfer and technology scouting.
